Every little matters

Growing up with a lot of girls in the house, it hasn't always been easy. Especially with just one parent working. That meant we always looked forward to Christmas as that was the time we were most definitely going to get new clothes. So from a young age I knew how to look after my clothes.

My sisters and I always fought if we wore each other's clothes. Five sisters growing up together, with 3 of us wearing almost the same size. Solloh is the lucky one, she came too late while there was no need for us to be fighting. My brother wasn't into much fighting, oh maybe just didn't want to fight girls hence I was once caught walking out of the house with his new suit going to Primary School, I was only 8. They tried to get me take it off but I cried! I knew he wouldn't fight me. Anyway back to sisters.

My big sister and I were born a year apart, boy she is so soft. She has always been. You would think when my parents bought us clothes they would buy for both of us at the same time. NO! They would always buy for my big sister then decide they would buy for me when they get the money next. So I used to cry for her clothes until mum says to my sister "Let her take your dress and we will buy you next", and she would agree. Come next time when new clothes arrive for my sister I would cry again and say "I don't want the dress I have now and I want a new one!". Guess what? A new dress I would get, then give my sister my old dress. Well, it wasn't really old but I would have worn it. So this went on for sometime until my parents learnt a lesson.

So in a nut shell, I have learnt to live and be content at every stage I am at in life.

So about 2 years back I bought some African material when I got home. I went to the tailor and asked him to make me a maxi dress. When I went to collect to dress, down by the sewing machine I saw some small pieces of the remaining material about to go into the rubbish bin. I picked them all up and said, "Can you please make me shorts with all these bits". He took some measurements and said, "I will see what to do". So one afternoon a few months back, for the first time I wore them and of  course my photographer follows me around. So there we go...
